The winners of last year’s German Physicists’ Tournament (GPT) successfully participated in the International Physicists’ Tournament (IPT) 2020 that due to Corona took place online. Representing Germany they reached an excellent fifth place. For more information on the IPT 2020, see 2020.iptnet.info.
Due to this success the next winners of a German preselection competition will be automatically qualified for the IPT 2021. The date of the IPT 2021 is not yet known. The preselection GPT probably will take place about two or three months before the IPT 2021.
However, there is no need to wait for this competition: In December 2020 an additional Online-GPT will be held. The problems of the Online-GPT (see germany.iptnet.info/problems-2) are chosen such that they can be worked on at home without special lab equipment. Therefore, the Online-GPT is a convenient possibility to become familiar with this kind of competition and to be perfectly prepared for the preselection GPT.
